No Sticks. No Stones. No Name-Calling Week
Bullying. It pretty much sucks. Almost all of us have been there at one time or another. To bring fresh awareness, Barnes & Noble is partnering with Simon & Schuster and GLSEN to sponsor No Sticks. No Stones. No Name-Calling Week, and making the entire month of January as "No Name-Calling" month. Events include an Educator Week from January 15-23 with stores handing out No Name Calling materials for teachers and educators. There will also be a national Storytime in all B&N stores on Saturday January 15th at 11:00am. The event will include a reading of Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes and One by Kathryn Otoshi along with arts and crafts.
Barnes & Noble is featuring a web page for anyone wanting more information. There are videos by some of todays leading teen and middle grade authors, and they will be featured through out the month of January. To check it out, visit www.bn.com/noname. You can also visit www.nonamecallingweek.org.
